Tips for proper Belly putter shaft length.
There is no “formula” or height-based method of fitting belly putters. The combination of a players height, stance and “belly size” make fitting a belly putter potentially very different from one player to another. There are players who anchor the belly putter at their belly button, while others anchor it higher on their body. Some players place the butt end of the belly type putter near their sternum. This is why the proper length matching of the belly putter is unique from player to player. The easiest method of measuring the standard length of a belly putter is to address a golf ball with a standard putter and then have another person measure the distance from the butt end of the putter to the preferred anchor point on the "belly". Add that to your standard putter length, and you now have your belly putter length. The picture shows a 6' golfer holding a 43" shaft putter.
Tips for proper Long putter shaft length.
The Long Putter can be anchored in a variety of methods. It can be anchored at the breastbone under his chin, firmly anchored against the upper breastbone, while some golfers even anchor their top hand against their chin. We recommend that the you see what feels most comfortable to you possibly using a broomstick or something to approximate a long shaft to get a feel of which hand positions that are most comfortable. Once the position of the top of the putter has been determined then assume a comfortable address position and then have another person measure the distance from the top of the top hand (left hand for right handed golfers) to the floor. Or mark the broom where you hand is comfortable and take your measurement. The picture shows a 6' golfer holding a 50" shaft putter.
Tips for proper Side Saddle putter shaft length.
Using a side saddle stance can differ greatly from player to player. Determining shaft size is similar to a long putter. Hold your left arm (right hand for left handed golfers) to the side of your body in a parallel position to the ground. Using a broomstick or something to approximate a long shaft can help you determine where your hand feels comfortable. Once the position of the top of the putter has been determined then assume a comfortable address position and then have another person measure the distance from the top of the top hand (left hand for right handed golfers) to the floor. Or mark the broom where you hand is comfortable and take your measurement. Typically side saddle putters will be in the 40" range. The picture shows a 6' golfer holding a 43" shaft putter.
